I’m not a big fan of Dell but this Notebook has promise.
This semi-rugged variation on the highly rated Latitude D620 model is Dell’s first entry into the semi-rugged notebook arena. Weighing about a pound more than it’s mainstream sibling, the Latitude D620 can afford to accommodate special shock-mountings for its hard drive and large 14-inch screen. The back panel even includes rubber doors to protect connectors such as those for USB. The spill-resistant keyboard is particularly spacious, and the battery managed an impressive runtime of more than six on our lab tests. The catch? It’s a bit expensive, with prices starting at $2,500 – more than twice the cost of the non-ruggedized Latitude D620.
