Building up and out

Actually getting the money together to make the move to Ohio is taking us much longer than we’d originally anticipated but this doesn’t mean that we’ve lost the spark to getting everything taken care of once we get out there. We already know that a small bit of remodeling is going to take place. The addition of a deck is another project that we’re interested in this coming Spring. So it’s no surprise to either one of us that signs for General Contractors are being posted up around us. We take this as someone from another realm trying to tell…more»

Safety First

While I was aimlessly flipping through channels last night, I came across HSN during their “safety” demonstration, or whatever it actually was.  They were advertising a product called the Hunter LampLighter. How it works is: You unscrew the light bulb out of one of your house hold lamps.  You then take this gadget and screw it into the light bulb socket.  You then screw your bulb back into this gadget and the gadget will begin to charge the three rechargeable AA batteries.  If your power happens to go out, within three seconds of the AC power switching off the LED…more»

Still Shopping

I’ve been doing a bit of shopping-preparation lately. I know that in order to get everything I need for the new house, I’m going to have to do a lot of bargain shopping so I don’t blow through my $2,000 budget without getting everything I need. I know for sure that the kitchen is probably going to need a little bit of upgrading, we’re looking into living room furniture and if room allows, we’re looking into a head board / foot board for the bed. Right now we’ve just got the frame pushed up against the wall and that’s acting…more»

Making the switch.

I’ve been back and forth on whether or not I’m going to leave the PC world in the dust and transfer everything over to a Mac in the near future. An avid mac-user friend of mine is trying to convince me to drop about $10,000 on a fully loaded Mac Pro with a 30-inch cinema display. I put that idea out of her head when I sent her a screen shot of the money in my bank account. Now she’s all up in arms about how a loaded iMac would do the same thing for me. I’m upset to know…more»

What is Colloidal Silver?

I’m not sure if it’s some kind of a sign or not but I keep coming across resources for colloidal silver. Any and all research I’ve done on this subject tells me that Colloidal Silver is a colloid of silver particles in water. In the past it was used on external wounds and burns to prevent infection. Some alternative-health practitioners claim that it is a beneficial nutritional supplement. Some others claim that it’s a powerful antibiotic. For me, however, further information has proven to me that it can be used to keep drinkable water potable over a long period of…more»

Step into the NOW!

Am I the only person who uses spreadsheets to keep track of my earnings? With all of the money being exchanged on a daily basis, I make it a point to document everything. I have it setup on multiple sheets and it’s broken down by the day. Sheet #1 houses all of my paid blogging earnings. Sheet #2 houses all of my advertising and design work and Sheet #3 houses all of my web hosting payments. A friend of mine was having trouble keeping track of everything and I pointed her in the direction of the Spreadsheet option with Open…more»

Online Survey Software

I’ve been looking into a few business related resources for a friend of mine. She’s interested in trying to figure out a way to make her business more user-friendly and because of this she’s been considering taking the route of installing or purchasing a membership for online survey software. She wants to learn more from her clients and having them randomly fill out a testimonial really isn’t going to do it for her. She wants to know how her services were, if things were accomplished in a timely manor. She also wants to know about little things like how she…more»

Lunarpages Webhosting

For those interested in affordable hosting, one resource you may be interested in is Lunarpages. Right now they’re offering Lunarpages Coupons which can save you some money when purchasing a web hosting plan from them. I don’t personally know anyone who uses Lunarpages, but I do know that based on some of the reviews I’ve read, many people are very happy with their services. Their webhosting is pretty affordable as well. Right now their basic hosting plan is $6.95 per month and includes 350GB of disk space and 3500 GB of bandwidth. You’re also given a free domain name for…more»

Can’t wait to decorate – heh, that rhymes.

I’m anticipating the upcoming move, mainly for the reason that Sean’s given me full range to do as I please in regards to decorating and organizing the house. I’ve been looking into everything from bedding and furniture to roller blinds so that we can save on energy. Rollerblinds aren’t a new technology but over the years it’s been dramatically improved.  It blocks out the sunlight during the day so it can keep a room cooler at night.  I know of some that work the same way in the winter where it helps to keep the cold out and the warmth…more»

Almost Too Patient…

I’m very patiently waiting for the mail to show up.  I’m hoping to get my letter from HSBC so I can start going through all of my paperwork trying to figure out what I’m going to need in order to sign for my loan.  Sean and I are really anticipating getting out to Ohio next week so we can buy our house, start any renovations that need to be done and then heading back out here so we can pack up our things and go.  Knowing that the home has been there for a while, and that there were a…more»
