Since I’m in the market for a new laptop, I’ve found myself leaning towards a MacBook Pro. Even going with their base system it’s still so much nicer than the laptop I’m currently on. For $1,999 you’re given the following specs by default.

– 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
– 2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM – 2x1GB
– 120GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
– SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
– MacBook Pro 15-inch Widescreen Display
– Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS – U.S. English
– Accessory Kit

Me, being the customizational freak that I am – decided that if I’m truly going to spend the money on a new system – it’s going to need some upgrades.

By doubling the RAM and increasing Disk Space, I’ve changed the original $1,999 purchase to:

– 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
– 4GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM – 2x2GB
– 200GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm
– SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
– MacBook Pro 15-inch Widescreen Display
– Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS – U.S. English
– Accessory Kit

For a grand total of $2,974.00

Now, I’m not sure if anyone truly has the $3,000 to drop on a system like this but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth dreaming over.
