Product Testing

The mail man just dropped off an interesting package for me.  A few weeks ago I signed up for a site where you’re paid to do some random product testing.  I’d completely forgotten about it up until I opened the box.  The test is for what they claim to be a new Shampoo and Conditioner.  The cool thing is it’s a product that I’m already using so I really won’t have to worry about destroying my hair with product that could be potentially harmful.  It’s for Dove, a product I’ve been using for as long as I can remember.  This…more»

Interested in Publishing?

I’ve never quite understood publishers, but I’ve always been interested. There is so much more involved in regards to Book Publishers than I ever really imagined. Sure, the author(s) write the book and that, for the most part, is the hardest process considering it requires the most creativity but I’ve never been sure of the steps to take after the book is completed. Now, I’m by no means an author so I highly doubt that I’d ever have a book to publish to the world. Heck, I can’t even write an eBook for that matter. So I went poking around…more»

Getting close to finished…

It was a pretty long weekend for me.  I haven’t been feeling very well and we’re still cleaning up the house in order to get everything ready for Christmas this year.  Unfortunately a very unwanted house guest will be arriving on Saturday but for the sake of being respectful, and civil, I’m going to spend the next week getting everything completely cleaned up in the house so that the place isn’t a complete and total mess. We pulled a lot of boxes out of the closet because Karen has quite a few holiday decorations that I was unaware of.  I’m…more»

More Marketing Techniques

If you’re an at-home worker, running your own company, you may be aware of numerous marketing techniques that really help you to get the job done, especially when it comes to gaining more clients/customers.  What many people don’t realize is that the advertising opportunities are close to endless.  Sure, you can hand out a few business cards, and even take the free route of printing up a flyer with tabs containing your business information for local supermarket shoppers to rip off as they’re leaving the store.  Bulliten boards are a pretty big money maker and they really don’t cost you…more»

If I Upgrade

After reading a few articles around the Web, on top of my own personal experience with it, I feel I’m ready to make the jump from XP to Vista.  Now, I’ve been an avid XP user for years, I couldn’t wait to upgrade from 98 to XP when it first came out.  Windows ME was just the worst version of Windows for anyone to even consider using.  Visually it looked the same as 98 and when it came to stability, 98 was the route to stay on.  XP surprised me in many ways, and still manages to do so.  I…more»

I think I found a new service

I think I may have found a new server company, I’m just going to have to do some more reading into their services – as well as their location.  Right now the company I’m with is running out of both Kentucky and California.  I’m not even remotely content with either data center to be honest, but that’s besides the point.  The one I’ve come across tonight is Burton Hosting, they offer both Business Web Hosting and Personal Web Hosting as well.  I personally spent more time looking over their Dedicated Hosting but that’s based on the fact that I need…more»

Ongoing Discussions

Sean and I are looking into a new printer for the office. With limited space, having a printer and scanner seperate can kind of get annoying with all of the extra wires in the room. So we’ve been looking into all-in-ones. I personally would like to own the new Kodak’s but Sean is insistent upon the fact that he prefers a Canon. He’s basically trying to convince me that his printer works better, even though the Epson I was using for years could trump his Canon any day. Stepping aside from the battle over which one we’re going to get,…more»

Hey! Give need that back!

When I come across new and interesting resources, they either excite me, upset me or just plain piss me off.  This is one of the times when I’m upset, but it’s only with myself.  A few years ago my computer crashed, to the point that I couldn’t even save the hard drive and use it as a back-up drive so I could just retrieve my data. I was told, years ago, that it was going to cost a few thousand dollars in order to have the encrypted drive recovered, so I cut my losses and just moved on from there.…more»

When is it my turn?

I should probably stop watching TV channels such as TLC and HGTV.  I’m now itching to do some search into an affordable rate on a mortgage so I can go out and buy the house of my dreams.  As of right now, however, I’m not sure if Sean and I could really handle a very high volume of money leaving our bank account on a monthly basis.  The average mortgage payment is about $800 a month down here, on top of that there’s electric, gas, water, sewer, cable, credit cards, and numerous other expenses that keep us on our toes…more»

Looking to Leave

I’ve been scouring the Internet looking for new hosting. I’m personally sick of my current provider and I’m looking to get a little more bang for my buck. I’m aware of the fact that I’m being overcharged for the little resources that I have, and I also know that I wouldn’t need to have as many servers as I do if I can get with a company that gives me more resources for much less money. Only having an 80GB hard drive on each server really takes it’s toll, and no raid configuration is also bothering the living heck out…more»
