Where’s my magazine?

About a month ago I signed up for a monthly subscription to LaptopMag because I’ve been spending about $7 a month in the supermarket to get my tech fix for the month. I signed up for it back in early January and still haven’t seen one. It was $12.99 for a 16-month subscription and I haven’t seen a single issue. I refuse to go out and spend $7 in the store when I was already charged the $12.99 from the company in order to even GET the magazine in the first place. I’m going to have to send them an…more»

NY Style in a Delaware tourist attraction?

While living in a tourist town means horrible numbers for business owners in the area, Sean is still trying to convince me that I should start up a restaurant. He knows how much I love to cook and in comparison to the Italian-style eateries in the area I think a touch of New York would be the proper way to do things. I will admit, however, that the water down here has a lot to do with the final outcome of the food. I’ve noticed that my tastes have changed because of the public water, I’ve gradually slipped over to…more»

Last.fm’s new fan!

In real life you build friendships and relationships with people and it’s primarily based on similar interests. Obviously if you had nothing in common with someone you wouldn’t really spend much time with them, what’s to talk about? So how come up until recently you could do that in real life but couldn’t online? In January I signed up for a site called last.fm. You spend the better part of your time listening to music while you’re floating around online so why not publish your playlists an easy way and deal with a program so technologically advanced that it will…more»

Bad, Bad Day

I woke up today to quite a bit of screaming. Karen was having some trouble with the dogs this morning and considering everyone’s been a bit on edge lately I think she’s close to her breaking point considering Candy’s current health. Princess doesn’t help the situation very much either, she’s a stubborn little dog who thinks she’s capable of accomplishing just about everything and considering the fact that Candy isn’t doing too well, Princess will still knock her over trying to get to the bedroom if Karen is heading in there with food for Candy. Princess will eat just about…more»

Inexpensive Communications

I’ve been looking into phone cards for my friend. She’s been running up phone bills long enough and decided that for her long-distance calls she’d rather just pick up a phone card and go from there. She’s unfortunate enough to not have long distance calling on her home phone, she’s with Verizon and doesn’t realize that just upgrading to a different plan she can spend $65 a month on local and long distance as opposed to the $250 a month that she’s behind with due to the long distance calls to friends, family and even businesses around the country. She…more»

A little extreme?

I have to say I’m a bit shocked about the news I found on MSNBC this afternoon. I missed part one of the story but part two told me more than I really needed to know. You walk into Best Buy with a mission to purchase a new laptop to use for work. You pay a little over $1,100 which includes a $300 warranty in case something goes wrong with it. A few months later your on/off switch is broken and you, under warranty, bring it back to Best Buy to have it fixed. From there you spend about 6…more»

What’s the difference?

While looking into life insurance I came across a few different websites that talk about Life Settlements. In big bold letters on most of the sites I was shown that I can get a policy from $25,000 to $500,000 without having to show any medical records or even a life expectancy report. So basically Life Settlements are a fancy way of saying life insurance, only you can collect on it while you’re still alive. According to sub-text a life settlement is when the owner of a policy sells said policy for a lump-sum payment. So say you’re life insurance covers…more»

The new HiPhone

I like coming across new and interesting products and I have to say the one that’s caught my interest is the new HiPhone. It’s an exact replica of the iPhone but it’s features greatly succeed it’s expectations. At a fraction of the iPhone’s cost it houses two SIM slots, triband GSM and is unlocked so it carries no contract with any cell providers. It also has two batteries and while at this point consumers are unsure of how much memory it has, there could somehow be a terabyte of flash memory. Or at least that’s what Doug Aamoth is hoping…more»

Let’s face facts…

With numerous family health problems, it’s got me looking into what would happen if I happen to pass away earlier than expected. There are a few different options for me but feeling as though I’d last more than 30 years I assume that Term Life Insurance wouldn’t be the route to take. However, when it comes to someone like my aunts, uncles, parents or grandparents I assume that within the next 30 years quite a few of them will have passed on and something like Term Life Insurance would be the route for them to take. I’ve looked into a…more»

Getting Closer

I’m getting pretty close on my final decision towards a new company. I’ve got it narrowed down to only two, and they’re fairly well known. There’s Surpass Hosting, who I’ve heard some mixed reviews on but they’re generally pretty good for what I need. I also remember one of the owners from at least 6 years ago. We used to chat on a regular basis, if he’s still with the company I want to assume that they’re still doing pretty well. The other is Host Gator, again hearing mixed reviews about this company but 90% of the reviews are positive.…more»
