In search of Auto Insurance?

Over the course of the next few months I hope to have enough money to go out and pick up a car from one of the local dealerships. It’s going to be a pretty big deal for me considering I’ve never owned one before. Sure, I’ve used cars when I’ve needed to but I never really sat down and thought “Ok, time for my own”. I’ve decided upon a Chevy and if I could truly afford one of the new Malibu’s then I’d be set. Unfortunately I doubt I’m going to have $25,000 to get the one I truly want…more»

Moving?

As I mentioned in a previous entry, I’m having trouble with my reseller account. While I do run my own servers I prefer to have my personal accounts under a different account. Why? With the folder-sizes of just acidgloss.net alone I’d be taking away valuable resources from paying customers. I’m using about a gigabyte of space and about 40 gigabytes of bandwidth every month on just this domain alone. After that you have to factor in I’m using a little more than half of that on my other domains like krissy.nu. My side-projects don’t get as many hits but when…more»

ABT Electronics

Sean and I are really hoping that I can find a job where I’m bringing in about $30,000 a year (minimum) so we can work towards getting out of here. Unfortunately for Delaware that’s a bit on the high-end, but that doesn’t mean it’s not something to look forward to. We’ve been looking into a few different property types as well, just to figure out where we’re going to need to budget our money, and how much we’re going to need to budget for. A big thing about everything down here is the lack of appliances in the apartments and…more»

MarsEdit Issues.

Unfortunately MarsEdit isn’t going to work out too well for me anymore. Adding a tag to the .htaccess gave me the ability to access the xmlrpc.php file that’s attached to WordPress so I could update/edit the blog. Unfortunately something went nutty on the server and they disabled me from being able to do it, and then I was dealing with a nasty 500-error ON TOP OF the fact that I couldn’t even BLOG. So I’ve amped up my search for a new company to place my personal sites with. They’re hosted on a reseller with a different company to begin…more»

Business or Personal, conference calls can really make a difference.

Anyone running or working for a company would know that taking or making a conference call is just part of the job. Not everyone can be in the same room at the same time, so naturally through the wonderful world of technology you can not only call someone where everyone can be in a few locations to still hear the news but there are also video conferencing capabilities as well. I have certainly noticed a rise in them recently. While I’ve never personally done one (minus discussing a few things with a client over a video-enabled instant messenger) I can…more»

More Lagging

I’ve been having some trouble with FeedBurner lately. I’m not going to make too big of a deal out of it but their site has been lagging quite a bit for me. I’ve noticed that at any given time a few of my entries disappear because of their placement next to the FeedBurner javascript that I’ve got on the sidebar. I want to hope it’s just temporary, I’d hate to have to take that down but if it gets to the point where I just can’t get anything to load properly for me, I guess that’s the route I’m going…more»

RecordNations – Business Services

It’s unfortunate but things tend to go missing around here, mainly important paperwork. I’m tempted to go through my archives and send them off to a Document Scanning Service just so I can keep track of them. One company I’ve looked into is RecordNations. Most businesses would view record management as just a cost of doing business. Unfortunately, with the increasing risk of failing to practice proper records management – you can lose your business. By going through RecordNations with their Document Scanning Service you can free up valuable office space and keep all of your important documents in a…more»

Lagging

I’m having some trouble getting around this morning. I’m by no means Sleep Deprived, I got my full 8 hours last night, which is a pretty rare thing for me these days. I set my alarm for 10:30 and I was actually awake 10 minutes before it went off. This worked out nicely considering I didn’t have to wake up Sean with the loud horn that the alarm seems to blare. I really do have to fiddle around with it and see how I can play with that setting. I am interested in doing some shopping on Think Geek though.…more»

PDA Enthusiasts

While I’m totally happy with my Razr, I have to say that I’ve been looking into pda phones because of how many emails I’m going through on a daily basis. It’d be nice to have something I can sync up with my iMac and then go from there. I’ve poked around a few different sites and one that sticks out for me is DiscussWireless.com because it’s not your run of the mill “buy now” kind of a site. It’s an informative website that houses a blog and even a forum. They have daily updates and reviews on any and everything…more»

Storms a Brewin

I just got back from my interview.  It seemed to go well but I’m not going to look too far into it.  As of right now I’m unsure of whether or not they see my design business as a conflict of interest.  I can understand their concern but at the same time, anyone who knows me knows that I put 100% into everything I do and considering this would be a full-time position I will more than likely completely walk away from freelancing.  Right now it’s repeat clients and it’s never really anything “big” it’s simple updates like uploading a…more»
