For a while now I’ve been considering a Virtual office setup in order to get rid of my cell phone. Since I work in-house, it’s really the only form of outside communication I can have at the moment. For many years my Grandmother battled many issues with her legs. Primarily her ankles. When she was growing up there weren’t any control-top kind of sneakers and based on this lack of support, she got to the point where her foot was basically dangling off her ankle because that particular bone was on the floor in place of her natural arch. Desktop speakers have begun to infiltrate this Bluetooth market, with products from LG and Nokia competing with the likes of Altec Lansing’s T515 for streaming your tunes from your phone to speakers.  Each has a hook of some sort, but none is so dramatic as Altec Landsing’s wireless pendant and ear buds disguised as a hidden remote.  Unfortunately, this doesn’t make the unit as useful for phone calls as it is for music. The i199 looks a lot like many other iPod docks on the market.   That is, it’s about the size of a shoebox and features a small cradle on the top side to hold an iPod.  But near the iPod cradle is a spot to plug in a tiny BluePin module, which adds Bluetooth functionality.  With the module in place, you can stream music from a phone to the i199’s speakers or trasmit sound from the unit to a wireless headset.  Though the Bluetooth function isn’t built in, exactly, pairing was painless, and the sound was excellent.
