Mac OS X Leopard

I’ve finally upgraded the Mac to OS X Leopard.  I have to say that I’m really enjoying it so far.  As far as functions are concerned it’s really no different than OS X Tiger, but visually it’s gorgeous.  The new dock blows my mind, the speed has also increased.  I didn’t lose anything during the upgrade, which is a plus, but I’m noticing that programs are also loading a lot quicker than they were in the past.  I don’t know if Leopard has anything to do with that but it seems to be working that way for me so I’ll…more»

Hopefully soon.

I’m waiting for UPS to get here. Sean’s aunt ordered a computer this past weekend and to save on shipping and taxes she had it sent down here. She’ll be here tomorrow evening anyway so it kind of made sense to do it that way anyway. I was a bit surprised by the purchase, she ordered it from Costco and was able to pick up a 17″ HP Laptop for $599. When you factor in your Costco membership, the two-day only sale and other key factors, you have to admit that it was a bit of a steal. For me,…more»

Gateway – T2330 Laptop

I’m still looking around for an Intel based PC that’s going to give me the ability to install the Mac OSX. I know it may be easier to just go out and purchase a $2200 Macbook Pro but why would I want to spend that kind of money when I can get the same statistics in a $600 windows based laptop? So the one I found was an Intel Pentium Dual-Core, 15.4″ screen, 2GB Ram, 160 GB hard drive, 128 Graphics, and 4 USB ports. Considering my main concern is the Intel processor and at least 2GB of ram. I…more»

I need a new keyboard.

I’ve been poking around online for a new keyboard to use with my iMac. While I’m anal about using the keyboard/mouse that came with the computer, I’m also in need of something a bit larger because of how badly my hands bother me if I’ve been using the computer all day. There’s no real support with the small keyboard that comes with a Mac. I would like to plug in my older one but it’s not compatible with this particular setup so I guess I’m going to have to look elsewhere. It’s something that’s going to be a future purchase…more»

MacBook Air

Recently Apple introduced it’s new MacBook Air. It weighs about three pounds and based on Apple’s description, it sets the new standard in ultra-portable computing. Screen sizes range on the small side, I’m personally a fan of laptops that are 15.4″ and up. The largest screen you can get with the new MacBook Air is 13.3-inch widescreen. With a full sized keyboard you wouldn’t really notice much of a difference in typing. The wireless has been upgraded as well. Something that caught my eye was the Remote Disk option, you can use the DVD or CD drive off of a…more»

Aww man!

I put in a bid on quite a few different laptops that were in my price range. Unfortunately they all had about a day or so left on bidding so I didn’t win any of them. Part of me is wondering why I was so insistent upon getting an AMD notebook two years ago instead of the Intel for basically the same price. Then I could just wipe Windows off this thing and install Leopard and be done with it. Even Sean’s notebook is AMD, so I couldn’t even offer a trade off. He doesn’t use his laptop so that’s…more»

Power Seller

I’ve been poking around on eBay for the last couple of nights. Knowing that I need a new laptop and I’m on a very strict budget I figure I’ll go to the source of all things inexpensive and float around for a little while. I was fortunate to find a listing for a few Intel based laptops that contain no operating system. The price range on them are anywhere from $5 to $200 depending on how close it is to the sale ending. As of right now I have a $1.25 bid on a laptop that contains about 2GB of…more»

New Laptop

While money is extremely tight right now,  I know that somewhere down the road I’m going to have to look into a new laptop.  While I absolutely love owning a Mac, I feel that having a Windows based computer is an important aspect of design so I’m going to go with a Windows based system.  This leaves me to decide upon Acer, HP, Gateway, Dell or any other company that produces laptops. So my question is this – What company would you personally recommend for someone who uses their laptop for: Coding (PHP/XHTML) Graphics Design (Quick jobs in Photoshop, I…more»

Hrm…

I’m starting to wonder if I’m going to have to log into Paypal and put a cancel on my ink order.  Someone just informed me that the site is a scam and they never received their product.  I’m still going to give it a few more hours just in case something does happen but I am a bit concerned with the fact that they said all orders received before Noon (Pacific) are shipped same-day.  I ordered about 4 in the morning so of course the order was sitting there waiting for them when they stepped into the office this morning…more»

I’ve made my choice.

Before I finally went to sleep last night I made the final choice of what I’m going to do with the printer.  Since all of the drivers work properly, and I now know that my sister can easily view the living room computer – I went ahead and ordered ink for the printer.  I originally started on sites like staples.com and microcenter.com because that’s where I would typically purchase my ink.  I then realized that I’ve written about websites around the Internet whom offer the same ink at much cheaper prices. At first I was going to go through inkers.biz,…more»
