Content Management: Boxes OS

I’m a pretty big fan of all things content management, mainly because of how much effort I’ve put in to building my own database up with client information and website outputs over the course of the last few years. Sure, when it comes to the web pages themselves, I hard code everything, but this doesn’t mean that I don’t have a database waiting in the wings to keep a backup of everything.

Building a server.

Sean and I sat down and went through all of the extra computer parts that we seem to have all over the office, it’s great to clean things up but even greater to know that within all of these pieces, there are two solid computers that can be built. Having extra hard drives, mother boards, and other key components laying around can always be a cool thing if you’re looking to build a home-based server, the only problem is that out of everything we have we’re missing a key element in getting a computer to even work: RDRAM.

Recycle Your Cell Phone

I was cleaning out the kitchen today to find a pretty large pile of old cellphones kind of sitting in the corner. I’m not sure where they came from but I also know that there’s only one person in the house with a cellphone, and it’s been the same one for quite some time. I asked around and found out that they’re old ones that haven’t been active since plans were upgraded/downgraded in the past. I know for sure that I have two (possibly three) sitting in a box in the closet and then I thought about a site I…more»

Use Consumer Reviews to Your Advantage

Over the course of getting this blog back up and running back in January, I found myself doing quite a bit of product reviews on items that I’ve actually tried or I currently own. A few of the articles lately, however, are based on word-of-mouth products that I found to be really cool. But I know that most people are looking for reviews and even just information in general from automotive to zebra’s and everything in between. Today I happened to come across a resource named trustsource.org that gives you information on everything from provillus, hot flashes and cellulite cream…more»

Resources: Moving Companies

We’ve found a house, hopefully this time it won’t fall through like the last one did. In order to be prepared we’ve been comparing pricing on different moving companies. We’ve set a budget and we’re going to work from there. I’ve been surfing around topmovingcompanies.com for a little while now. We’ve located a few people thanks to their free search engine. You fill out a quick form and you’re given four moving quotes. At least I know from the get-go that I’ll be able to work within my budget and not be hit with any surprise fees. Safety Precautions

Safety is an important part of daily life, more so with seniors due what age can do to the body. A simple slip and fall, the vulnerability that comes with being forgetful, and many other reasons that are on a list just too long to properly write up. I can say that a friend of mine works for a call center where you can’t help but feel absolutely horrible for everyone who calls in. Some will hit their help button and not realize what’s just happened, others know they were making the call but by the time the operator picked…more»

Career Options

I noticed a strange trend with a lot of the students I went to high school with. Now, I’ll admit that more than half of the females are working on their second (and even third child) beyond that there’s a lot of drug and alcohol abuse but these people were addicted by the time they were Sophomores so there’s no real surprise there. One thing that I wasn’t expecting where all of the military careers.

Addictions can be educating…

While I’m no where near needing help for it, I’ve been a gambler for most of my life. I’m not talking about going bankrupt by sitting at the poker tables all day. I mean little things here and there just to see if I’ll hit it big with the lottery. I’ve been getting take five, power ball, mega ball, and even scratch offs ever since I turned 18. I’ve also been lucky enough that when I was younger, a few would show up in the birthday cards. Oddly enough, I wound up winning more money when someone else bought me…more»

Can you call in for vacation time when you’re self-employed?

It’s been pretty easy for me to get side-tracked while I’m on my quest for finding a home. Knowing that we really can’t do much until we know for sure that the loan is in our pockets, we’ve been thinking of all of the possibilities. But at the same time, we’re also considering a much-needed vacation considering how hard we’ve been working lately.

VoIP for Small Business

My main reason for purchasing a cellphone in the past was due to the fact that I didn’t really like any of my clients calling my home number. I considered this to be my business line, so to speak. Spending about $50 a month is growing to be a pain considering the phone doesn’t ring nearly as much now, as it has in the past. So I’ve been looking into a more inexpensive method through VoIP phone systems.
